If you're aware of our "Back Soon" sign that appear's in the shop door when we've popped out for a coffee you'll know its non other than Matlok's dial cut out from his first grey skate mag interview year's ago.
On reflection most times i go get coffee and stick it in the window i think to myself..
Yeah Matlok is "Back Soon" or was back the other month. Matlok's got some unbreakable ties to our city. He may of transplanted to London but he's not gone forever.
Like most folk in the Sheffield skate scene we've known Matlok since he was a little nipper.
I hit Matlok up to discuss what thing's keep him coming back to Sheffield.
Akbars curry house
When I come home for Christmas this is where I love to go for a festive curry with friends to break naan and catch up. This meet up is a long held tradition followed by a group photo on the dev flat bar
The House Skatepark
What can I say that I haven’t said before, I love this place, it’s my home, It’s where I feel safest and most comfortable. I have a spiritual connection to unit D Bardwell road and know that whenever I come home I can pop in say hi and have a nice catch up with Rob, John or Greenacre and a fun skate.
Béres
A true northern staple, hangover cure and all round pinnacle sandwich. One of the things I look forward to most on a return to the north is a beres pork roll
Dev
The centre of Sheffield. Maybe the best worst skatepark in the UK
Slugger
Sheffields no 1 skate shop. Always nice to pop in, have a chat with Kennelly and check out the shop

Skate trips
I’ve been lucky to be able to do a couple little trips up north for skate videos one of which was bringing Pass~Port’s Jack o’ Grady and Sam Sutton to Sheffield for a week. We stayed at the lovely Rob Daykin’s house, the 2 lads had their first carvery (crosspool tavern) and got to see the Sheffield sights. Squish even blessed ponds forge rail

We’ve had a 10+ year rivalry and even used to Facebook live stream our games on dev back in the day LOL. It’s always sucha joy to come back and 5 letter him just like I will be doing this September (Today) at the house comp.
